Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA)

Empowering Women, Transforming the Maritime Industry

Historically male-dominated, the maritime industry is now undergoing a powerful shift – and WISTA (Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association) is one of the most impactful forces behind that change.

Founded in 1974, WISTA is a global network that connects women working across all sectors of the maritime world – from legal to logistics, ports to policy, engineering to entrepreneurship. With national chapters in more than 50 countries, it fosters mentorship, visibility, leadership development, and industry-wide change.

WISTA does more than advocate for inclusion – it shapes the future of maritime leadership by building diverse, competent, and empowered communities of professionals.
